Battery electric vehicles (BEV)
Battery electric vehicles only use electricity and don’t produce any emissions. Powerful yet quiet, they’re a dream to drive. When you need to charge your vehicle, simply plug it into an outlet or charging station. It’s perfect for running everyday errands.

These vehicles are powered by a battery and high-output electric motors. To maximize the range, the battery charges up partially while you’re driving thanks to regenerative braking, which sends a little jolt of energy to your battery whenever you slow down. It doesn’t emit any exhaust because it only runs on electricity—and that means you don’t have to buy fuel. Plus, the average cost of charging up at home, for example, comes to just over a dollar a day.1
How much can a battery electric vehicle save you on gas?
Take the testPlug in. Charge up. Then go.
Charging up a battery electric vehicle is easy as... 1, 2, 3. Simply plug it into an outlet or charging station at home or at work, or into a public charging station. There are currently 4,500 public charging stations throughout Quebec. The amount of time it takes to charge up depends on several factors, particularly the charging level:
» Level 1 = standard (120 V wall outlet)
» Level 2 = faster (240 V home or public charging station)
» Level 3 = fastest (public fast-charge station)
When performance and driving range go hand in hand
Emissions-free battery electric vehicles also mean instant acceleration, a quiet motor and smooth, laid-back driving. They have great range, too. On a full charge, the bZ4X has an estimated available range of 406 km for front-wheel drive models.2 With an increasing number of charging stations of various levels now available, you're free to hit the open road!
Lower maintenance costs
Unlike conventional gas-powered vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles don’t have gearboxes and they have very few mechanical parts, which means lower maintenance costs. And most of all, with no gas engine, you can say goodbye to oil changes!
Government incentives
Incentive of up to $5,000 when you lease or purchase a zero-emissions vehicle (federal).
Financial aid of up to $7,000 when you lease or purchase a new vehicle (provincial).
Financial aid of $600 (provincial).
